Safehold is a science fiction novel series by David Weber set in a distant future universe. The series follows the story of Merlin Athrawes, a highly advanced android that was programmed by a group of humans known as "The Inner Circle" to help guide Safehold towards progress and eventually resist the Gbaba. Under the guise of a human, Merlin becomes a key player in the politics and wars of Safehold, working in secret to push the technology of the planet forward while keeping his true nature hidden.

The Safehold series currently has ten books, with the first book, Off Armageddon Reef, published in 2007 and the most recent, Through Fiery Trials, released in 2019. The books explore themes of survival, religion, politics, and technological advancement, while also featuring epic space battles and intricate political intrigue.
